Hailed for her “sparkling upper register and clear vocal tone” (Town Topics), soprano Rachael Long has captivated a wide range of audiences.
This season, Soprano Rachael Long returned to to the Philadelphia Fringe Festival to perform Kevin Puts’ The Brightness of Light with Liberty City Arts. Other highlights from this season include Pamina (The Magic Flute), Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi) and Mrs. Gobineau (The Medium) with Art City Opera and performing as a guest artist in a Recital of Women Composers at Rowan University. She’ll return to the Wondrous World of Opera with ePOP and make her company debut as Della in The Gift of the Magi with the Delaware Valley Opera Company.
Other roles include Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Nedda (Pagliacci), Countess Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Lucia/Lucia II/Leonora (covers-The Long Christmas Dinner), Serafina (cover-Il campanello), Corinna and Delia (Il Viaggio a Reims) and La dame in Poulenc’s La dame de Monte Carlo.
She has had the distinct honor of premiering the role of Narrator in Francis Lynch’s For Those In Peril. Long was a founding member of Forte Chicago, Chicago's premier Opera Improv group.
In concert, Long premiered the music of Chicago-based composer Elizabeth Rudolph in her recital "Finding Home, Finding Self". She also debuted with the Salt Creek Chamber Ensemble as the Soprano Soloist in Handel's Messiah. She made her North Shore Choral Society debut as the Soprano Soloist in Vivaldi's Gloria.
During the pandemic, Long co-created Perk & Bark, a virtual live performance show featuring music, coffee and conversation.
The Pittsburgh native received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Carnegie Mellon University. She has taken part in masterclasses with Marlena Malas, Patricia Craig, and Armen Guzelimian. Long currently resides in Philadelphia.
